It's time to meet Marilee's August Client of the Month - the vivacious Kelly Kenwood Pinup! Kelly recently shared some of her experiences working with Marilee, from getting to know her to their plans for the future...
How did you first learn about Marilee's work? Why did you choose to work with her? Do you remember your first shoot?
I first found Marilee through social media; I think it was either a Facebook or Instagram ad. I loved her work! Her stuff looked vintage with a modern twist and it was right up my alley. My first shoot with her was so much fun; we ended up doing three sets and the photos came out so beautiful; I was hooked from there. She made me feel at ease and she was friendly and funny and just a joy to work with.
Marilee always has great ideas for shoots. She wants you to look and feel your best and that comes out both in the process of creating the artwork as well as with the finished product. I love her joy and enthusiasm as well as her excitement; the energy during shoots always makes me feel good. From the first shoot to every one in between, I always feel amazing.
I think my two favorite sets have been my blue wedding dress and the moon sets we did. I would love to submit images for publication but I haven't quite figured out how to do that just yet, so hopefully that happens soon.
What makes you a repeat client? What would you say are the best parts of working with Marilee? What do you feel makes her unique/special as a photographer?
Marilee gives you the whole package, from makeup and hair to wardrobe to sets and everything in between, even providing snacks and beverages for you. She has a great eye for seeing the best of people and recognizing their good sides and being able to photograph those. Images are minimally edited and I always end up looking gorgeous in all the images. She has such enthusiasm for her work and makes me feel so good when I work with her that I love coming back each time for more. Plus her set designs are so much fun! I've done red riding hood and a pirate set and I can't wait to do more like that in addition to the glamourous ones.
What projects are on the horizon for you and Marilee?
Not sure yet, but hoping to get some stuff published soon. I also am excited for the more fantasy sets in addition to continuing to do the more glamorous stuff. I try to do a shoot with her about once every four months or so.
Marilee is a joy to work with. Her professionalism and hard working nature makes things so great that the vibe for the shooting experience is awesome. I love every shoot that I've done with her and I look forward to more shoots to come!
